USA Board Chair Gebbie retires, Board elects Peters Chair and Hettel Vice-Chair

USA Board Chair Ken Peters, SVP & CNO of Luminant’s Comanche Peak

During the recent Utilities Service Alliance (USA) Board of Directors Meeting, Ken Peters, Senior Vice President and Chief Nuclear Officer of Luminant’s Comanche Peak, was elected USA Board Chair.  Mr. Peters will serve a two-year term effective July 1, 2022.

USA Board Vice-Chair Grover Hettel, CNO for Energy Northwest’s Columbia Station

In addition, Grovel Hettel, Chief Nuclear Officer for Energy Northwest’s Columbia Station was elected USA Board Vice-Chair, replacing Aldo Capristo from South Texas Project.  Mr. Hettel’s term will be one-year effective July 1, 2022.

“USA is excited to have Ken and Grover step into these key leadership positions within USA,” said USA President & CEO John Christensen.  “Ken has previously served as our vice-chair, and Grover has been extensively engaged in several key USA activities and projects.  I am looking forward to working with them as we continue to find ways to provide more value to our members.”

Peters succeeds AEP’s Senior Vice President and Chief Nuclear Officer Joel Gebbie, who served as USA Chair for four years. During his tenure, USA’s leadership model was strengthened, and several fleet initiatives were implemented to support reduced operating costs and improved nuclear station safety

and overall generation performance.  “Joel’s leadership will truly be missed by all of USA,” said Christensen. “USA is in a much stronger place than when Joel took over and that is a direct testament to his vision and leadership.  We wish Joel all the best in his well-deserved retirement.  In addition, USA

would like to thank Al Capristo for his leadership in the vice-chair role.  Aldo has been a long-time supporter of USA dating back to his tenure at Xcel Energy.  Both of these individuals will be truly missed.”
